The Nilotica difference

It melts at skin temperature.

Nilotica's naturally high olein content gives it a melting point just below the warmth of your skin. Where common shea sits on the surface, Nilotica turns to a dry-touch oil on contact — and sinks in.

Why Nilotica is different

Same family. A different butter entirely.

Most shea on the market is the West-African variety, usually refined and deodorised. Nilotica — Vitellaria paradoxa subsp. nilotica — is its rare East-African subspecies. A difference you feel, not just read about.

Melts fast

Transforms on contact with skin into a fine, silky texture.

More comfortable

Rich in oleic acid — naturally softer and less waxy.

More versatile

Face, body, hair, lips, cuticles and dry zones.

Origin

From wild trees along the Nile.

The Nilotica shea tree grows only in a narrow belt of East Africa and takes decades to bear fruit. It cannot be plantation-farmed — every kilo is gathered by hand from wild trees by women's cooperatives in Northern Uganda, then cold-pressed within days of harvest.

Every batch is quality-controlled, whipped and packed in Toulouse, France, and shipped to you directly. No brokers, no blending, no refining.

★★★★★
This is by far both the best shea butter and nilotica shea butter I have ever tried! So soft and creamy, no grains or hard bits, less than a millisecond to melt into your skin, leaves you glowing and more hydrated than any brand moisturizer. You can feel and smell how natural and unprocessed it is, yet carries almost no scent or colour, a beautiful glow, no oily/sticky feeling, and a little goes a long way!

The item arrived in good condition with no damage. The packaging was neat and secure. The product quality is also good. I have tried using it for body butter, and it provides great moisture.

Questions

Before you decide.

Will it feel greasy?
No — this is Nilotica's defining trait. Its high olein content means it melts to a dry-touch oil at skin temperature and absorbs quickly. Use a pea-sized amount on damp skin; a little goes remarkably far.
Does it have a scent?
A faint, natural nutty-honeyed note from the raw butter itself — nothing is added, and nothing is stripped. It fades within minutes of application.
Can I use it on my face?
Yes. Unrefined Nilotica is used on the face, lips, body, hands, hair and scalp. If your skin is very reactive, patch-test first — with a single ingredient, you always know exactly what you're applying.
Where do you ship from, and how fast?
Every order ships from Toulouse, France, within 24–48 hours — shipping is free. EU delivery typically takes 2–5 working days; international delivery is available at checkout.
How is this different from pharmacy shea butter?
Most retail shea is the refined West-African variety — bleached and deodorised, with the delicate fractions lost. Ours is wild-harvested East-African nilotica (Vitellaria paradoxa subsp. nilotica), cold-pressed and untouched, traceable to the cooperative that gathered it.
