East African Nilotica shea butter is related to the better-known West African shea butter and offers unique properties in the form of a pleasant aroma and good spreadability. While West African shea butter is hard and waxy, East African Nilotica shea butter is creamy and soft. This rare butter is obtained from the nuts of the Nilotica shea tree, which grows only in northern Uganda, southern Sudan and some regions of Ethiopia.
In a cosmetic tube
Due to its higher oleic acid content, Nilotica shea butter melts more easily and is flexible enough to be put into a tube.
Raw but refined The butter has a pleasant smell that dissipates quickly and is more subtle than that of any other butter. It easily penetrates the skin and is not "heavy" but leaves the skin feeling soft.
Fair trade Nilotica shea butter is produced by local communities in East Africa, imported to France and tested in a laboratory.
